To start, our property has drought-tolerant landscaping, which means we use plants that don’t require much water, including succulents. We also installed a drip irrigation system and replaced some grass and mulch areas with beautiful stone. These changes allow us to save so much water every year.

Our plumbing system also helps us preserve water. While most toilets use about 3.5 gallons of water every time they flush, our low-flow toilets use about 20 percent less water than regular toilets. You wouldn’t believe the difference one toilet can make: Each low-flow toilet saves up to 13,000 gallons of water per year!

We Save on Paper and Plastic

At Serena Vista, we do everything that usually requires paper—rent payments, service requests, applications, and notices—online. Not only is this more convenient for our residents, but it eliminates the need for unnecessary paper waste.

One of the best ways to live green is to recycle. Not only do we have recycling bins in our office, but we also encourage our residents to recycle as well. Items you can recycle include plastic bottles and containers, paper, empty cans, and flattened cardboard. You cannot, however, recycle food, liquid, plastic bags, plastic wrap, or cups with wax or plastic coating.
