Three Red, White, and Blue Treats to Make for the Fourth of July

The Fourth of July is just around the corner! And, might we say, we’ve selected some of the easiest, least time-consuming options out there that will still look and taste impressive to your guests. Add a sweet, patriotic visual to your serving table by making one of these fabulous red, white, and blue treats to celebrate.

1. Star-Spangled Fruit Kabobs

These red (raspberry), white (marshmallow), and blue (blueberry) kabobs take only minutes to throw together. By placing the ingredients on skewers in the proper order, you’ll quickly have a beautiful (and tasty) American flag centerpiece for your meal.

For the first seven skewers (left to right), follow this pattern: seven blueberries, marshmallow, raspberry, marshmallow, raspberry, marshmallow, and raspberry. For the other nine skewers, alternate raspberries (seven of them) with marshmallows (six of them). Arrange in order on a platter, and it might just be too pretty to eat—but don’t let that stop you!

2. Red, White, and Blue Oreo Truffles

If we’re going for minimal effort with maximum crowd-pleasing-potential, the Red, White, and Blue Oreo Truffles would be our pick! You’ll be able to easily memorize the recipe, which is good—your guests will be asking for it!

Use a blender or food processor to turn 36 Oreos into crumbs. Mix (by hand) one package (eight ounces) of softened cream cheese into the Oreo crumbs. Form the mixture into 48 one-inch balls and place them in the freezer for 10 minutes. Meanwhile, melt 12 ounces of white chocolate according to package instructions. Dip Oreo truffles into the melted white chocolate and place on a baking sheet covered in waxed paper. Top with red, white, and blue sprinkles and let them harden in the fridge for one hour before serving.

3. American Flag Cake

Another no-bake, patriotic treat recipe for the win! This may quickly qualify as Fourth-of-July-Family-Tradition material thanks to its easy assembly and flag-themed deliciousness!

To make, you’ll need two pound cakes (found in the frozen desserts section of your favorite Fountain Valley grocery store), two cartons of Cool Whip, and fresh strawberries (or raspberries) and blueberries. Cut the pound cake in slices (half-inch thick) and layer in a 10” x 13” casserole dish or cake pan. Add plenty of Cool Whip on top of the cake. Then, place washed blueberries in the upper left-hand corner to represent the American flag’s stars. Place washed and sliced strawberries (or whole raspberries) in rows to create the flag’s stripes. And voilà! Dessert is served!

We hope you make your Fourth of July a little sweeter by adding one of these patriotic crowd-pleasers to your celebration. Plus, with how easy each one is to create, you’ll spend less time in the kitchen and more time celebrating the freedoms you enjoy in the United States of America (and in Fountain Valley)!
