Mile Square Regional Park Kid’s Nature Trail

Perfect for kids, dogs, or anyone who favors flat walking paths, Mile Square Regional Park is located in Fountain Valley and would make for a great Saturday morning activity. The trail is four miles long and wraps around the perimeter of two fishing lakes, three 18-hole golf courses, baseball and softball fields, an archery range, picnic areas, and a 15-acre natural park area full of California native plants.

Currently, the park is closed on weekdays and open on weekends. Check the official website for more park updates so you can plan your adventure accordingly.

Santa Ana River Trail

Suitable for runners and bikers, the Santa Ana River Trail is over 50 miles long and travels through Orange, Riverside, and San Bernardino Counties. It connects shopping centers and beaches. The trail is asphalt, making it comfortable to walk on, and it runs along a cement-lined waterway. Whether you plan on exercising for an hour or two or want a full day of outdoor activity, this may be the perfect hiking trail for you!

Fountain Valley Power Line Trail

One of our favorite hikes in Fountain Valley is the Fountain Valley Power Line Trail . Out of the three trails we’ve shared, this one is the shortest in length, making it an excellent option for beginners or those who want to exercise in an hour or less. The best part about this trail is that it is lightly trafficked and dog-friendly, meaning you and Fido can both get that splash of vitamin D you are craving!

The hike travels from Harper Park to Akita Bonsai Nursing and passes several streets and a neighborhood along the way. There is also a large grassy area for dogs to play on and a playground for kids. If your furry friend tags along with you, make sure to bring your doggy bags so you can keep the trail clean for others!

Get outside and enjoy the warm weather by visiting one of the local hikes in Fountain Valley, California. Whether you are looking to break a sweat or enjoy a peaceful walk, any of the three trails above would be perfect for you. Pick a time, grab a buddy, and get walking!
